Powerdynamo and road licencing regulations

this will evidently differ from country to country, but there surely are legal aspects of your national road licensing laws to be taken into consideration when using our material.  Not knowing your legal conditions, we model the following on the German Law:

The manufacturer of our electronic components, VAPE, had submitted the materials to an accredited technical service in Prague, Czech Republic, for testing against  compliance with  ECE regulations 10R-04 1421/1424/1425/1426/1427 (electromagnetic compatibility). The material all passed and certificates to the effect of their compliance have been issued. Starting with production run september 2014 the parts are now marked with  E8 10R-04 xxxx to show compliance. Example see here.

Road Traffic Licensing Regulations define technical conditions under which motor vehicles are allowed on public roads.
Modifications you do on a vehicle may result in its legal road unworthiness.
In Germany e.g. this is the case if

1. the type of vehicle is changed (notably if the vehicle is by category limited in speed or engine capacity)
2. this may endanger others or
3. increases emission of gassous pollutants and/or noise.

1. The ignition systems we offer are by declaration destined to replace stock dynamo/ignition systems in vintage and classic motorcycles whose engine  characteristics have not been tempered with. Powerdynamo material will not change the engine characteristics of those motorcycles. Using our systems will not result in significantly higher engine output. It is not tunig material. In a few 50cc engines the stock ignition has a revolution limiter build in to stick to speed limits. Those are bypassed when replacing the stock system with Powerdynamo. In the cases concerned we expressly mention this circumstance.

Powerdynamo systems which contain facilities to change advance (replacing mechanical centrigugal govenors or stock electronics) have been modeled along the stock characteristics. Those units do not contain programmable microprocessors and the characteristics in them may not be altered.

2. Our systems are not detrimental to safety, on the contrary significantly enhance it by offering better lighting, better function of signalling equipment such as side indicators and horn and offer, compared with the aging stock systems, increased reliability.

3. As our systems do not tamper with engine characteristics they do not increase emission of gassous pollutants and noise. In most cases emission of pullutants should be even reduced due to better combustion.

Relevant for Classic motorcycles  would be especially
  • lighting- and signaling  equipment and
  • elektromagnetic compatibility (radio non-interference).

There are possibly eased regulations for vintage and classic bikes (you need to inquire locally)

Should you want to drive without battery, which most of our systems technically permit, you should check locally whether this is legally permitted. Please read also our Informationen on driving without battery
In any case however, you should know that without battery, there is no parking light, something potentially hazardous.
Should you want to buy a alternating current (AC) system, than additional points will be added to the fact that there is no battery.
to prevent radio interference, vehicle ignitions have to be equipped with interference suppressing material
  • such as metal covered supressor caps or caps with inbuild resistor or
  • spark plugs with inbuild resistor

Material without any means against radio interference would not normally be permitted on public roads.

Should the material we delivered to you contain sparkplug leads for dirtbike use without supressor cap and resistor, either

  • replace those cables against normal ones with shielded plugs, or
  • use resistor containing spark plugs (But please not both at the same time, that may lead to problems in starting engines)
